File Comments on the Use of the Simple Proofs of Plane Geometry for Teaching Logic
It is not uncommon to find in mathematical textbooks sections devoted to the topic of logic in some form or another. This paper looks at a typical example in the form of a high school geometry textbook. The aim is to test the presumption that reasoning is being taught by the manner in which the sections of logic are made relevant to reasoning with respect to simple geometric proofs as presented in the text.
