- The XMathBox allows the user to use a customized version of Xubuntu Linux that runs as a guest virtual machine using VirtualBox. The actual host operating system can be any that is supported by VirtualBox -- Linux, OS/X or Microsoft Windows. This math tool box features a set of software tools and utilities useful for learning mathematics or solving problems: - Euler Math Toolbox - Geogebra - wxMaxima - qtOctave - Qalculate - Gcalctool - GNU Units - Python and IPython - Spyder Python IDE - NumPy and Scipy - GNU TeXmacs. This name merely acknowledges the fact that Xubuntu Linux is the operating system used as a virtual machine.
